The England manager has chosen to retain the same England squad that triumphed against their previous opponents and produced a stellar performance in Belgrade last month, finding no place for the Real Madrid star and Phil Foden in his group for the upcoming exhibition match against the Welsh side and the qualifying match in Latvia.

Despite Foden making a strong case for a recall after regaining his top condition at his club, and Bellingham having made a comeback for his Spanish club following a surgical procedure, the head coach has opted not to selecting two of the country's biggest offensive stars. The young midfielder has started just a single time for his team since his comeback.

Tuchel has made room for Bukayo Saka, who is fully recovered and has been reinstated in place of his injured Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke. The experienced attacker has not been handed a recall.

Tino Livramento, who started at left-back in the 5-0 win in Serbia, has dropped out due to a knock. Tuchel has opted against selecting a like-for-like substitute for the Magpies star but has selected John Stones, who had to withdraw last month. He has spoken about the centre-back's significance for England and has floated the idea of deploying him in the middle of the park.

No spot has been found for Adam Wharton, who was called up in the previous squad but withdrew injured and was replaced by the Milan player.

The manager stated: “It was only three weeks after the last camp and the last win, the last performance, so the consideration was why not bring the identical squad in because they set the standard. Now it is about building routines out of it. We have unfortunately two injuries at the moment with Tino and Noni and we welcome of course Bukayo Saka in to replace Madueke. Jarell Quansah was a late call-up last time; he will stay in camp.”
